It’s a sunny perfect Sunday Prams and a little traffic jam Women of all shapes and sizes With men all colours and signs Children all learning to walk On the cobblestone by the park Cats are coming for food And for a fleeting cuddle too And as the river water slowly glitters Going East a Westward breeze Oh, yes, I am so pleased Never felt this release Never again will I be in the peace And then there’s Eric with his stable stance Shows no emotion in his glance We all know of his past But have no courage to ask So the conversation floats Sunny perfect Sunday…

Ruffle, rummage, looks for clothes, the bed is warm so soft, no sign of day The sky is silver, dark and grey, five minutes more, not yet, my arms they weigh Legs are locked in wrinkled cloth in games of copycat of match and catch Not quite sure, cold to perform, why would you leave what we have made so warm? It’s just a day, a week or more, depends on times and it will fly right by I can’t say it’s all too hazy in the midst of dream and real play Achy on the outside of the inside, what’s the way, should I just pray? Then a hand so big it strokes upon my naked cheek and I can’t speak I must go he says so soft I must fly to live and craft I must go where you can’t be But it’s you that I’ll see I adore you, my sweet pea I adore when you’re with me Will you be my rock and my tree? Shh, deny it, just be quiet, hold that silence, promise no one heard Change your mind, it will be fine, the urge not there if you don’t say you care Rows of homes and cars and planes I promise there’ll be there if you just stop Pop the key back on the shelf, you know yourself you really want to stay I must go he says so soft I must fly to live and craft I must go where you can’t be But it’s you that I’ll see But I adore you, my sweet pea I adore when you’re with me Will you be my rock and my tree? Please stay, my lover’s light Please stay all through the night Don’t go and sore my heart Come back to bed Please stay, oh please stay, oh please stay Don’t go away Don’t go and sore my heart Come back to bed!

For what I see For what I hear Whatever they do to me For where I go Mostly don’t know However they come to me Now, right now Higher, raising that fire Go hand in hand Go walk the land In case it will turn to sand Police and stare Men of the square Your cinders were laid down there How will it go now, Higher, over the fire This is the way What do they know, I say Holding one’s head high Good-bye! For what I see For what I hear For me This is the way What do they know, I say Holding one’s head high Hello! For what I see For what I hear Whatever they do to me (me) For where I go Mostly don’t know However they come to me For what I see (Now, right now) For what I hear Whatever they do to me For where I go Mostly don’t know However they come to me For what I see (Higher, waving good-bye, right now) For what I hear Whatever they do to me For where I go Mostly don’t know However they come to me For what I see (Now, right now) For what I hear Whatever they do to me For where I go Mostly don’t know However they come to me Go hand in hand (Higher, waving hello now, right now) Go walk the land In case it will turn to sand Police and stare Men of the square Your cinders were laid down there For what I see (Now, right now) For what I hear Whatever they do to me For where I go Mostly don’t know However they come to me A moment here (Higher, over the fire) A moment there Whichever wrong turn I’ll bare There is no guide Help me decide So I’ll take on the ride to be free To be me

What is there more to say in this place along the way When silence brings hindsight to our hidden names? Voices shade the planes inside So to hide in plain sight And I see it all shining Our souls bright An ever-changing form storming behind closed doors I see it all come through, Old souls becoming new Time will go by regardless Life will stand right beside you till it’s gone Raise your glass above your high-brow in a rush Better hush the sadness now What is there more to say in this place along the way When the border brings harbour to our many names? Voices call towards the light so to glide within white And we’ll see it all shining Our souls won’t miss a flight Time will go by regardless Life will stand right beside you till it’s gone Raise your glass above your high-brow in a rush Better hush the sadness now Time steadily runs clockwise And life will surprise for better or for worse Raise your glass and bless, It happens to the best, a must Better hush the sadness now What we see, what we hear What we fear and what we do All down to What we taste, can embrace Leave aside to what we’re denied So hush the sadness, Hush the sadness, now!

Never was a cornflake girl Thought that was a good solution Hanging with the raisin girls She’s gone to the other side Giving us the Ho-Heave-Ho! Things are getting kinda gross And I go at sleepy time This is not, this is not really happening! You bet your life it is You bet your life it is You bet your life! It’s a peel out the watchword Just peel out the watchword She knows what’s going on Seems we got a cheaper feel Now all the sweeties are gone Gone to the other side with my encyclopedia They must have paid her a nice price She’s putting on her string-bean love This is not real, this is not, this is not really happening You bet your life it is You bet your life it is You bet your life! It’s a peel out the watchword Just peel out the watchword Never was a cornflake girl Rabbit, where did you put the keys? And the man with the golden gun thinks he knows so much Rabbit, where did you put the keys, girl?

On the darkest day Bring me faith, bring hope, it’s all a matter of Holding on, you know To the gates, through the doors, that’s what I’m asking for A fight is mounting up the hills Will it reach, can it breach through my own mirror image? On the fairest day I will remember who was there In the midst of trying times Beckoning right by my side moving forward as we ride And as the glory unifies Beckoning right by my side moving forward as we ride Through the game we can’t but play One day you’re the king of kings, next the servant of all things You reach the top then fade away Beckoning right by my side moving forward as we ride I will remember On the darkest day Bring me love, bring me joy, it’s all a matter of Choice and chance, you know A new place with some truth that’s what I’m hoping for A riddle not quite ever solved You predict then you slip into another fancy On the fairest day I will remember who was there In the midst of trying times… I will remember Make or break, it’s life decided in just a moment Throw that dice, let Luck play her hand and be a lady Snake eyes are feared yet they’re part of the deal of the game When you play by the rules and pay attention Circumvention not an option so I will remember

Uberwench 04:18
Uber, it’s uber, it’s uber, it’s uberwench! Wake, get dressed Who will serve breakfast for the family? Make sure to be at work on time as well Lunch break at the desk No time at all Travel home Make sure you’re not too late And feed them love Be there and be polite A smile cheap, the stress so sweet Nurture their light Uberwench… Perfect hair, Reminds you that it’s not so hard to bare You get the call they want you straight away Don’t really have a say Just stay in the game Shut the lid The work is done, the hours gone so fast The day’s not done The lover needs your ears and you best caress Then maybe you rest Uberwench… It’s uber, it’s uber, it’s uberwench! Another day has gone so quick You wonder what’s next To expect But you will do the same Again and again Day in and day out Nothing new Always the same tune

Nevermind 04:58
Walking down the streets a moment less is what to go for Laura rushes through the day not knowing the price she’ll pay for It makes sense to everyone but surely there is more Beauty all around (beauty all around) Dares to stop, the inside cop is banging on her door The dos and don’ts, the wills and won’ts will drive her to the floor Too much choice and little time, Today and tomorrow’s crime Beauty all around (beauty all around) Beauty in this town Many days go by and springtime turns to hot bright summers The same each year but this time’s clear she’s not a brand newcomer Her skin once pink, her lips once full say more than one should figure Beauty’s all around (nevermind) Beauty in this town (nevermind) Over the bridge there’s art and fun, nevermind From the heights such a sight! From ground arrays of sounds Over the bridge there’s dance and play, nevermind From the side, could join the ride but Nevermind at all Nevermind the call That’s what she’s heard, That’s what she’s heard!

She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes She can ruin your faith with her casual lies And she only reveals what she wants you to see She hides like a child but she’s always a woman to me She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you, She can ask for the truth but she’ll never believe you And she’ll take what you give her as long as it’s free Yeah, she steals like a thief but she’s always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself She can wait if she wants She’s ahead of her time Oh, and she never gives out And she never gives in She just changes her mind She’ll promise you more than the garden of Eden Then she’ll carelessly cut you and laugh while you’re bleeding But she brings out the best and the worst you can be Blame it all on yourself, ‘cause she’s always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself… She’s frequently kind, then she’s suddenly cruel She can do as she pleases, she nobody’s fool But she can’t be convicted, she’s earned her degree And the most she will do is throw shadows at you, But she’s always a woman to me

about

Venus Eye is a celebration of the modern day female perspective through the medium of the traditional acoustic jazz quartet and the art of song form.

With the ever-present intimate sensitivity of the singer-songwriter, it explores themes of universal truths through the artist’s every day experiences, yet reflects the variety of these perspectives through the layering of vocal harmony and the natural story-telling of jazz improvisation.

Its melodic style easily draws in the listener who is further uplifted by the bright and light echoes of Latin rhythms and instrumentation (Paraguayan harp, flutes and percussion).

The mixture of these modern sounds combined with the traditional band setting provides the perfect blend for any audience to quickly familiarise itself with this original material, yet allowing enough openness for the exciting unpredictability and self-expression of jazz.
